Arbor Day

South Dakota’s traditional Arbor Day is the last Friday in April. Day County Conservation District celebrates Arbor Day with all of the schools in Day County.  Every 4th grade student receives a Black Hills spruce tree to take home and plant.

Misti Taylor, District Manager presents information to the 4th graders; including benefits of trees, different species, and history of trees. Addition to receiving the tree all 4th graders are provided a variety of gifts to commemorate Arbor Day and taking care of our natural resources. Awarding the Arbor Day Poster and Essay Contest winners to the 5th and 6th graders rounds out the busy day. .
